Nathan); CONTEMPORARY M.T. SONGWRITERS (with special guest teachers Adam Gwon, Jeff Blumenkrantz, and Zoe Sarnak); JEANINE TESORI & LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA (with special guest teachers Kyle Beltran, Kirsten Wyatt, Stephen Sposito, & Taylor Iman-Jones); and SIR ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER (with special guest teachers Sara Jean Ford, Meghan Picerno, Jason Gotay, & Michael Patrick Walker.)
CLASS STRUCTURE
CLASS 1: Students have a mock audition (as though auditioning for a musical revue of songs by that session’s composer), singing from their own books and practicing a strategic audition (what songs do you pick to encourage the folx behind the table to see you for the material you see for yourself?) Students will then be “cast”* in two or more songs by the composer and will be assigned that material to work on throughout the 5-week session. *Please note that all songs and roles are open to students of all gender-identities.
CLASSES 2–4: Students will coach the material with Actor Therapy staff & special guest teachers.
CLASS 5: Students will rehearse their final performance, and then present their material to a small audience of invited friends/family and guests from the Actor Therapy community.
The class will be offered in-person only at Open Jar Studios.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?
This class is ideal for early-career actors who are anxious to dig into work, who are looking to perform full songs in a more serious (but safe!) setting, who are looking to collaborate with other artists and to get new footage for their websites and social media.
